Wilderness prime review (No spoilers)
The series, which begins with a vengeance-filled road trip, had viewers expecting to witness a revenge-filled storyline. They anticipated elaborate plans that would make it seem like accidents were happening and thought there would be intense confrontations. However, the narrative took a different direction by using this trip as just a small starting point. The scenes that seemed to depict the protagonist seeking revenge were limited to a single scene on a cliff. After that, there were no further revenge scenes in this trip. Moreover, this trip was quite short, spanning only 2 episodes. This left many feeling disappointed as the series did not live up to road trip, as the synopsis had suggested.
The story takes a twist and turns into a convoluted crime drama involving the protagonist unintentionally, and it’s not about the unfaithful husband she initially seeks revenge against. Instead, it introduces other characters who become relevant later on. The plot drags on with many unnecessary subplots, like attempting to stretch the relationship dynamics between the past and present excessively. It also includes excessive scenes of the protagonist’s running, accompanied by annoyingly loud background music, which often makes it tedious. Many aspects of the story easily bore the audience, even though the premise is interesting, Although the story has an interesting of how the protagonist will evade the crime she unintentionally committed, However, the solutions presented in each episode are hardly believable, like obtaining evidence related to the protagonist but suddenly thinking it’s someone else, intending to make it a plot twist, but it results in the opposite effect. Overall, it seems that the police team is portrayed as quite foolish in their investigations.
The good thing about this is Jenna Coleman , who plays the lead character. She is beautiful and fits the role perfectly. She makes it believable that someone could cheat on such a beautiful woman. She portrays her character from innocent to cunning excellently, With a role where the husband, despite his infidelity, constantly begs and pleads for forgiveness throughout the story, Oliver Jackson-Cohen performs well. However, the script makes his character a bit too foolish
